Notation

Notes and chords

Enter pitches with arrow or letter keys.
Enter rhythmic values with the numeric keypad from a double-whole note to a 256th note, with up to 3 dots. (e.g., press 4 for a quarter note).
Notes play as you select/edit them (optional).
Turandot can tie the notes that are not firmly next to each other.

Rests

Rests can be made by pressing the spacebar.
Can be moved up/down to avoid notes in other voices.
Rests can be made invisible.
 


Automatic consolidation of bar rests into multirests. M
ultirests can be split at any point.

Accidentals

One-key input of standard accidentals.
Accidentals in parentheses.



Microtonal accidentals.


Voices (Layers)

Notes can be written in 4 different voices (layers).



The number of the actual voice appears in the status bar.
Notes, accidentals and stems are automatically placed correctly even when there is more than one layer.

The selected noteheads are shown in color.

 

 

 

 

Beams

Turandot automatically groups beamed notes based on the rules of the time signatures.
Notes can be beamed together or disconnected manually.
Notes can be beamed over rests or across barlines.



The direction of the beam segment can be flipped.



Turandot accommodates secondary beams and they can be broken.

Tuplets (irrational rhythms)

Common tuplets can be inserted quickly (e.g., press Ctrl + 3 for a triplet).
Tuplets with a single number or a ratio.



The last t
uplet can be repeated with one simple keystroke.
Auto Bracket option: Turandot automatically places only numbers on beamed groups of notes, and a number with a bracket on unbeamed groups.

Tremolos

One note tremolo from 1 to 5 strokes.
Two note t
remolo from 1 to 5 beams.
Three beam type for half note tremolos.



Cross-staff tremolo.



Multiple staccato dots can appear with one-note tremolos.

Noteheads

There are almost 50 different types of noteheads that can be selected easily from the Notehead menu.



Invisible noteheads can also be used.


 

Articulations

Articulation signs can be selected from the Turandot articulation menu.
If there are two or more articulation signs, they are correctly positioned (but adjustable).



Fermata signs can be put above the barlines and bar-rests. The signs can be invisible and appear during playback but when the score is printed.



Multiple staccato dots can appear with one-note tremolos.

Ornaments

Turandot has an ornament menu, but custom ornaments can also be used.



Accidentals can be placed above and/or below the ornament.
Ornaments in parentheses.

Clefs

There are 20 different types of clefs to choose from.



Cautionary clefs at the end of staves (can be optionally hidden).
Two clefs can be used at the first bar of the staves.

Key signatures

Turandot automatically transposes key signatures into the correct key for transposing instruments.
Automatic previous key cancellation (optional).
Automatic cautionary key signatures at the end of staves (optional).



Atonal keys can be used.
Polytonality. (Use independent key signatures in each staff
.)



Ignore the key signature on individual staves (e.g., Horn, Timpani).

Time signatures

The format of the time signatures can be set up for different types of scores (for example No units, Show units as notes, Large, Huge).



Create complex, p
arentheses or invisible time signatures.
Automatic cautionary time signatures at the end of staves (optional).
Grouping of beamed notes automatically follows the rules of the Time Signature.

Barlines

There are 8 different types of bar lines to choose from.
